For 15 years I have attended the Gay Men’s Figure Drawing Group, conducted by artist Tyler Alpern at his log cabin home above Boulder. We meet once or twice a month and draw figures from life. I always concentrate on doing portraits. The initial drawings are done in Conte crayon on large sketch paper from twenty-minute poses. I then transfer my favorites to canvas and paint them in oils.

My thanks to Tyler for welcoming us all for so long and for his always-amusing playlists. Thanks also to the models who have stayed still for twenty minutes at a time - no easy feat. To the models who have not stayed still, well, they do not show up here.
