Nick Vialpando
A Colorado local, born and raised in Lakewood Nick Vialpando has always been inspired by the Morrison Formation fossil bed that we reside on. He received a BFA from Colorado Mesa University and an MFA from The University of Mississippi both with emphasis in sculpture. Nick’s art is created with themes of natural processes, change, and time in mind. He has always believed that art is an important aspect of life, and is a middle school Art and Design teacher.
My work has always touched on the overarching theme of change. Change is a constant in not only our lives, but in the universe as a whole. Sometimes change can be expected and welcomed, other times its sudden and feared. It can be as monumental as a supernova, and as miniscule as a falling drop of rain. We don’t have control over much of the change that happens around us, but we do control our reaction to that change. My work focuses on those reactions and interpretations of change around us. The media and subject matter may change, but if you look close enough you will always see elements of change in many different forms.
