Terra Marks
Terra Marks is a self-taught multi-media artist from a family of creatives. Her primary focus is creating art from re-used and natural objects, out of love and respect to the earth, but also because she enjoys the challenge in making new with old. Terra believes art inspires meaningful reflections, encourages continual learning, and creates collective experiences; she is a life-long advocate in the importance of art.
As a self-taught artist, I have always enjoyed the process of creativity. Right now the world feels overwhelming and it is easy to fall into fear, despair, and negativity; art gives me respite. My goal as an artist is to offer an experience of joy, whimsy, tranquility, hope, playfulness, or possibility. My mixed media and origami work allows my designs to be guided as much by emotion as by my materials and the unexpected treasures in the world around me. My art exists to encourage people to slow down and appreciate those emotions that connect us to ourselves and our environment. Sometimes we must be reminded to allow our imaginations to run wild and to see the endless possibilities in life.
