My artwork is an exploration in blurring the lines between abstraction and surrealism, while underscoring my curiosity with simplified objects in space, …what I refer to as meta-statements on architectural form. I believe the objects and shapes represented, all have a contextual occupation, which often suggests the human condition. These ideas have come from my observation of a growing sense of loneliness that pervades society in the U.S. and around the world.
Much of these feelings grew out of my many years of living in and traveling to Russia (1991-2015) and have increased over the last 5 years, especially during the COVID pandemic. In some cases, these ideas helped to inform the titles of my art, while conveying my reflection of the frailty of human life and our endless quest to transform it. My work includes paintings created in oil, acrylic, encaustic, occasionally using photography as a backdrop onto which I paint. My work also includes giclée prints and drawings.
